I’m Waiting Bollywood

June 9, 2010

I’m waiting Bollywood.

I’ve been waiting for another Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham since 2001. Where is our 2010 blockbuster drama complete with a four word title, five mega star actors, and the five songs that everyone uses for her wedding? We had Hum Aapke Hain Koun in 1994, Dil Waale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain in 1998, and Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1999. Since then, Bollywood has been skimping on the ingredients with movies like Vivah (2006), Jab We Met (2007) and Om Shanti Om (2007). It’s like Bollywood is serving bhel without any of the chutney. I want some chutney!

I’m tired of listening to Barso Re Megha at every Sangeet, watching every bride walk down the aisle to Tere Bina, and seeing every couple waltz its first dance to Tum Se Hi. I don’t blame brides completely for the monotony. It causes me physical pain to listen to all the really bad music that’s come out of Bollywood in 2009 and 2010. Sorting through all the nonsense to get to that one gem can be exhausting! With all the bad Bollywood churn, it’s always safe to go old school. I love recommending the one diamond in the rough: Jodha Akbar’s instrumental version of Jashn-E-Baharaa (and that’s still 2008). The music literally makes my heart skip a beat. If I could go back in time, I’d walk down the aisle to that song in millisecond.

But seriously, am I missing something? Do you know of any amazing Bollywood wedding songs from 2009 and 2010? Please post below!

I dont know what year this song came out but I LOVE Jiya Dhadak Dhadak Jaaye. I walked down the aisle to this song and it still to this day makes my heart skip a beat (or two) :-)
